Since school is back in session and daylight savings time is closing in, keeping properly working streetlights is of the utmost importance for the safety of communities. In Springfield, Mass., the city leaders are working to come up with a plan to fix their streetlights since so many of them have not been working. Along the major streets of their neighborhood, approximately 30 streetlights along their major roads that are not lit. City council members have not been able to calculate how many could be out throughout the whole town. Community members are worried about their children having to walk in the dark and other dangers.
Having unlit parking and streets can be very dangerous to the community. Walking through unlit areas can lead to robberies and possibly violent crimes. Pedestrians can be robbed themselves or cars can be vandalized or broken into while left in the parking lots or garages. Well lit areas can decrease the amount of theft that could happen if the areas were dark. Cameras will have a better view to catch predators and pedestrians will be able to know more about what’s going on in their surroundings.
Using LEDs for your exterior lighting will bring better security to the streets, parking lots and other outdoor areas. Since LEDs give off brighter lights than the alternatives, it makes them the better choice to keep your facilities and neighborhoods secure. Since they last longer, users have an easier time keeping up with maintenance to protect the surrounding area.
