Periodically at Action Services Group, we like to highlight our customers’ stories to showcase the value they get from engaging our services. Today we would look at a big box home furnishings chain that needed to increase their light levels while simultaneously decreasing their energy and maintenance costs with our commercial warehouse lighting solutions. The particulars of this industrial warehouse lighting solution help illustrate the key drivers behind our total turn-key process from the initial meeting to the final installation.

Commercial Warehouse Lighting Solution Challenge

The customer, a national big box home furnishings company needing a commercial warehouse lighting solution. They had extremely low light levels in their largest domestic warehouse/distribution center and they had three particular goals when evaluating a new lighting system. They wanted to increase their lighting performance to meet their new corporate minimums, decrease their energy costs and reduced their frequent maintenance costs. Specifically, they wanted to increase the light levels in their facility from 70 lux to 200 lux (a lux is a unit of measurement that pertains to light levels), which was a significant boost in the overall light output in the facility, all while decreasing their energy costs.

When considering an LED retrofit for your facility, energy savings are not your only benefit. In our blog, LED Light Quality: What are the Advantages Beyond Energy Savings? offers a look at the lifespan and maintenance, as well as lighting performance in quality LED lighting.

The Industrial Warehouse Lighting Solution

Action Services Group provided a turn-key process that included design, photo metrics, product recommendation, and installation. We engineered a light-emitting diode (LED) industrial warehouse lighting solution that would achieve the increased lighting performance levels. While simultaneously decreasing the energy costs by over 22% for the customer. Critically important was our manufacture neutral business model. Which allowed us to obtain a product that could significantly increase the light levels but provide considerable energy savings. We achieved the outcome by utilizing a mix of energy-efficient LEDs, and smart occupancy sensors that would turn the lights off when not being utilized. After the installation was complete the average LUX reading in the facility was 252, a number that exceeded the customer’s requirements by 52 lux.

The smart occupancy sensors played a key role in increasing the customer’s energy savings. Lighting control solutions offer considerable energy savings and can be utilized in many if not all situations.
