Lighting control system and smart lighting is gaining more traction throughout the lighting market. Industries of all segments are taking advantage of lighting control systems as a new way of better managing their facilities and locations. The most popular types of lighting control and smart lighting systems are smartphone enabled technology, daylight sensing technology and proximity sensing technology. Most of the major producers of lighting control technologies are based in the United States, along with Germany and The Netherlands.

A few of the biggest segments using smart lighting technology are commercial, industrial, and outdoor lighting. For commercial properties, like offices and other businesses, having adjustable lighting can help improve the work life of the employees. Smartphone enabled technology can have the power to dim the lights around them through their smartphone which will make their area more comfortable to work in. Having LED lighting for outdoor settings can help improve the safety of parking lots or parking garages. Exterior lighting can have proximity sensing to give off light when someone is walking outside. For all types of industries, having lighting control technology can help save the facility energy and money. Sensors will be able to cut down the amount of electricity being used to power the lights throughout a building and outdoors.
